Good Product From A Good Supplier

EGD website was easy to use for purchase. Shipping was very fast. The image displayed though shows a version without an L5-30p, the one shipped had one on the front. I had to call to get the Hardwire installation kit sent in order to wire this to an outdoor inlet.
The unit uses fuses. It is set for a 15amp fuse for each of the 6 circuits. It comes with one 20 amp fuse uninstalled. Make sure you order extra fuses to cover multiple 20 amp circuits. I ordered extra fuses of both types since the breakers are bypassed when the generator is on.

Unique And Great Transfer Switch!

I have two Honda EU2000i generators with a parallel kit.I have used simple mechanical transfer switches in the past, but I was looking for something more sophisticated that could monitor the loads on each circuit and provide some automatic functions.
The UTS6H fit the bill. I love the load shedding feature, which essentially allows you to run more devices by temporarily switching off some devices (like a refrigerator), while you run others (like a microwave). I also love the UPS feature which keeps critical circuits running while I set up the generators. It also displays real-time amps/watts for each circuit, so it’s easy to monitor your consumption.
My only complaint is that the user manual is not very clear. I had to figure out some features by trial and error. One other con is that you can’t manually switch individual circuits from utility to generator for testing. You need to simulate a power outage by turning off circuits 5&6 in you panel, while the generator is running. This will switch all 6 circuits to generator. By the way, you really need a UPS to get full functionality of this switch. The UPS keeps the switch powered on during a power outage, until the generator is running.

Needed back up power at my Moms house as windstorms / power failures are common in this area, had the unit installed by a licensed electrician. Unit is working great so far and all is well. Still need to test in an actual power failure.

Excellent Product -- Perfect For My Needs!

I use this with a Honda EU3000iS inverter generator to run critical circuits -- furnace, sump pump & internet, tankless gas water heater, computer in gas range, microwave, & a few lights. I cannot run these all concurrently, but the programmable load shedding follows my priorities & works great. For installation, I roughed it in myself, then had a licensed electrician make the final connection to my breaker panel & outside feed. Very happy after 15 months with several long power outages. Highly recommend.

Great Transfer Switch For The Basics

This transfer switch is impressive for the automated technology it contains. I have it paired with a Honda 2000eu and can run all of my essentials including our gas heater. I also have a 2000 watt ups plugged into it which supports a few lights and my computers for 3 hours. Overall a fantastic solution for powering 3000 watts of essentials with a smaller generator.

Very Good Transfer Switch So Far

The install of the switch was very easy. It took less than 1 hour. It's best to have two people to get it hung and to get the wires into the main panel...extra hands are helpful for these tasks.
I ended up running about 75 ft of 10/2 wire to a inlet box just inside on of my garage stalls so I can run the generator in driveway but don't need much cord length to get to the inlet box in the garage. I used the PB31 inlet box from Reliance Controls.Setting up the UTS is very easy as well. The manual is pretty clear on the various settings and the UTS walks you through setup on the display screen.
I tested the system this past weekend by cutting the main breaker to my panel and firing up the generator. The UTS worked perfectly. I'm powering it with two Honda EU2000i (one is a companion). I'm able to power my furnace, sump pump, refrigerator, hot water heater vent fan, and lights/plugs for my living room and master bedroom on just 3,250 Watts.
Overall I'm very happy with the UTS.

Very well thought out & excellent companion to Honda 3000i inverter generator. Allows a number of critical circuits to be supported by a relatively small inverter generator. Very easy to install and configure.

Exactly What We Hoped For
By Eric M.

I purchased this transfer switch along with a Honda EU3000is generator. Finally got to use it for an actual power outage and it worked as expected. Wheeled out the generator, started it up, ran the cord to the transfer switch and in a few seconds the 6 powered circuits in my house were up. We can have a smaller generator which is very quiet and still power all the necessities (refrigerator, freezer, furnace fan, garage door opener, lights) with out having to worry about overloading the generator since the transfer switch performs automatic load shedding.
The transfer switch was fairly easy to install. The hardest part (my garage has finished walls) was cutting the hole in the drywall, drilling a hole through the stud so the armored cable could reach my panel. The actual wiring was simple other than the braided wires which I ended up putting a little solder on so they would be easier to connect with the provided wire nuts.
The only downside I can see to this transfer switch is that you can't power a GFCI circuit but in my case that was fine. Also I noticed that it is more sensitive than my 15A breaker so it actually will fault before the breaker flips if you approach 15A load. If that happens you just push any button to reset. It has a high quality metal case and really for what you get I think it's a better value than a manual transfer switch even with the additional cost.

First off, I love the APC transfer switch. Before you purchase the transfer switch, verify that the circuits to be used are not GFCI breakers in the main panel. GFCI breakers are not compatible with this transfer switch.

Bad Transfer Switch, Great customer service

I ordered my APC UTS6H and received it within 4 days with no visible damage unfortunately after installing it it did not work. I called APC customer service and it was determined to be a faulty unit. APC shipped another one with 2-day shipping no questions asked. The unit I received from EGD was manufactured in 2009? The one I received from APC was manufactured in 2013.
I am very happy with this unit and would highly recommend to anyone looking to use a 2000 watt inverter type generator. I also purchased the Yamaha EF2000is which is awesome!

Question about the APC transfer switch; I am off the grid in low load RV. I am planing on buying the Yamaha EF2000iS and saw this transfer switch. I would like to connect my battery bank to the APC as well as the generator and have the APC select power from the generator when it is running or from the batteries when it is not. Will it do this?
