This generator is everything I hoped it would be. I put the oil and gas in and on second pull it fired right up. It's never missed. It got me through the aftermath of a hurricane. I was running a portable a/c system, a refrigerator, a chest freezer and our entertainment center, no problem. I've also used it to power lights and tools when I was working on our home electrical system. It's dependable. I wish it would have come with an hour-meter but they're easy enough to install on your own.

This is a well made generator. The handle and wheel position are like that of a hand truck making it very easy to move. Engine starts with one pull. The only con I see is lack of a volt meter.

Used it once, wouldn't generate power after that, useless. Bought for hurricane Irma, lot of good it did and then I couldn't register the warranty.

Purchased the Ariens 5000 watt generator based on the great reviews. I considered the Generac gp5500 but I went with the Ariens, because it has a Subaru engine and a 3 year warranty. I got to put this generator to use just the other day when a wind storm caused a power outage. It started on the first pull and ran flawlessly for 8 hours, until the power was restored. I was able to run the sump pump, refrigerator, TV, internet, lights, and power our cell phones. Next purchase will be to install a transfer switch so I can power the essentials without running extension cords everywhere. Anyone looking for a great generator at a great price check out the Ariens 5000.

Here's the straight scoop:
Pro's are 1.) weight distribution is side-to-side which makes it easier to move around, less effort/muscle req'd. 2.) came assembled except for wheels/two front legs...a cake walk to finish off outta the box. 3.) started on the 1st pull, Subaru engine easy to pull, shutoff vlv out in the open, not hidden or recessed. 4.) GREAT gas mileage, much better than all the others I considered. 5.) not noisy at all. 6.) a 3-YEAR WARRANTY, none better out there!
Con's are: Calling the manufacturer (Ariens) to register it because their 'net site did not show power generators as an option to select, I found out that it was discontinued (as was reflected in the serial number, a 2013). HOWEVER, they still honor the 3-year warranty it comes with and I performed the warranty registration over the phone with them AND asked for an e-mail for my records to verify that I had registered it. I received the e-mail the following day. Let me state that Ariens discontinued the unit as a result of unsatisfactory contract negotiations with Subaru. It had nothing to do with quality of the unit. I'd buy another one if I have the need. I love it as does everyone that eyes it up. They had their thinking caps on when they designed this power generator.

I am very satisfied with this generator. I have just used it a little. It cranked very easily. It ran my tools fine. The generator is not as loud as others I've seen. I think it aught to last a long time. Very nice
