Cummins Onan A055E867 Reviews & Ratings
The Cummins Onan QG4000 is a great entry-level product for RV generators. This model features Cummins Onan 4-Cycle OHV engine for the most electrical output for your dollar.
If you are looking for a no-frills design or watching your expenses, this will definitely get the job done, but might not give you the peaceful experience you were looking for.
This unit is ideal for light and medium use applications and will handle all of your basic power needs.
It is a reliable value and cost-effective solution, but if you can afford it, you should trade up for a little more power.

The rats got to my generator and the insurance paid to have it replaced. Most insurance companies figure out a way to make you responsible for a large portion of the cost and mine was no different. So I had to go on the internet and look for the best deal. On the unit I needed Cummins Onan RV QG 4000, EGD was anywhere from a couple of hundred less to 1200.00 less and EGD offered FREE shipping. The process was quick and EZ, Hassle free.

This is an EVAP RV type generator, it is a special model for use in vehicles that have a separate fuel tank just for the generator. It does not include the EVAP canister or other parts required for legal installation in these situations. It CAN be used in RV's where non-EVAP units can be used by simply capping off the purge line fitting on the generator.
There are very few manufacturers left making RV generators. Since Kohler and Generac left the market years ago, and Powertech only makes larger commercial mobile type units now, the Cummins (formerly Onan) units have dominated the market and may in fact be the last ones left. Since there is little to no competition, the price, to me seems a little high, hence my rating in the value category. I understand R&D plus compliance to EPA regulations, etc. is expensive, but I personally feel Cummins could do better in the price department. (Just my opinion) But why would they? You buy their units, or you go without. They've got you by the... (ahem). Anyway, after working on generators for over 30 years, I still say they're the best even if they're expensive. Cheers.

Great purchase and Great support

I purchased this product to replace an identical model in my Toy Hauler that had just worn out over time. Trust me when I say I shopped around. I e-mailed and called a lot of dealers and web sites for quotes and information. The price here was the best. The generator arrived quickly and as promised. I had a few questions after it arrived and prior to install. I contacted support and Jared was very helpful in getting me the answers to my questions. Installation / swap out was a breeze. I would not hesitate to purchase products from PED again.

Good genrator, bad installation instructions
By Danny B.

Review Posted 06/12/2015
The generator runs perfect, just the same as the one we had in 07. However, this time I installed it myself. The installation instructions seemed as if they were not written for my model. There was not a cutout template for making the cutouts in the floor of my RV. This put making the template for cut outs on me. It is impossible to make an accurate template as some of the holes are not accessible from the top even with the cover removed. Other than the cutouts, everything went well. I would not install another generator myself.

Thank you for the review. We are happy to hear you enjoy your generator and the positive ordering experience. Large scale drawings/templates are available from your Onan Dealer. This is referenced On page 10 of the install manual under "typical genset." Page numbers in the manuals differ slightly based upon the generator spec you have.
