I had by generator for about and year now. It came on the first day I had it and ran all day. It was Christmas Eve and there were 15 people at my house. It has been on several times since and has run 17 hours since it was installed.

Worked ok but just 2 .5 years after purchase required a new motor install that is not covered under labor warranty. Dealer says oil pressure happens to other customers as well so not clear if Cummins has addressed this root cause? Motor was covered but not labor new motor install is estimated to cost over $1000. Cummins help line refusing to discuss if new motor will have same issue in 2 years. Only sends us back to dealer. I want to like Cummins as a USA premium motor company but I am concerned they are neglecting what may be a systemic oil pressure issue. Their help line is a problem and won’t discuss the frequency or if the oil pressure is unusual. Leaves me thinking this is a big problem that they are not addressing. I hope this turns around for me but I am now very concerned I spent $10k for a reliable generator for my family with medical issues but I can’t recommend them yet after 2.5 years.

Took Cummins 1 Year To Fix It

The problem is Cummins service! Exceedingly expensive and it took Cummins Metro Power NY a full year to send their one knowledgeable technician who determined the problem was a bad coil and replace it. Cummins proprietary service software requirement prevents local service companies from diagnosing the problem and thus you must spend a fortune to get factory service. Buy a Kholer instead!!!

This is by far the best generator out there. It runs runs and runs. No problems. Just get it serviced and stay ON all the time. I can’t tell you how much I love this product. It is really the best thing since sliced bread.
