Parts You Need!

These are parts you should have if installing generator in a cold climate. Personally, I think the cost of this kit is a bit high, but it is what it is.

Good Product But Spendy

The product was pretty easy to install. Instructions could be a little more extensive especially since I’m a homeowner with my 1st home generator. I bought it from Electric Generators Direct and I have nothing but great things to say about them. I would definitely recommend them. The kit was costly but if you n it, you need it. The breather hose was very stiff and it’s barely in the air filter box but I’ll keep an eye on it. All in all, I’m happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone in my area.

Generally A Good Product

Hard to say yet whether this product performs as expected as it only functions when temperatures go far lower than they are at this time of year. I'm assuming that it will. The cold weather kit comprises an oil warmer which installs into a crankcase drain plug, an electrically-heated breather tube, and a battery-warmer pad. The major drawback to this kit is the fact that the components are not available separately I do not use the battery warmers because the built-in charger on these generators is temperature-compensated. Since this feature of the charging system is dependent on ambient temperature, it will not "know" that the battery is actually warmer than ambient, and will likely overcharge and damage the battery if the warmer is used. Therefore, the battery warmer represents an unnecessary expense, and a waste.

This kit was easy to install, you will be required to change the oil. I recommend run the generator for the 20 hour breakin, then install.
