This is an extremely popular generator in Florida. Most homes in hurricane country are powered entirely by electricity; there is no natural gas or propane fuel source.
Standby generators simply don't work in these situations because they need natural gas or propane to generate electricity.

We love our Generac 8917. Where we live, our power goes out constantly. This generator does the job for our home. It supplies all the power we need on a daily basis. Highly recommend!

I bought GP18000 about 3 weeks ago in preparation for the next outage, hoping it will power my 26,000 sq ft., 2-story home with a 5-ton A/C unit. Fast forward, storm "Beryl" came through knocking out our lights. We hooked up the generator to the box that the electrician installed. OMG!! Not only did it power my 5-ton A/C unit, it powered the whole house. 1 stand-alone freezer, 1 chess freezer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, all the lights (interior and exterior), electronics, and TV without missing a beat. We hadn't tried the dryer, dishwasher, or washing machine yet. It did what I was hoping it would do and I did have to pay a "stand-alone" generator price for it. I love this generator. Money well spent.!

Shopped around and did my homework.
Arrived well packed in perfect condition on a double pallet which made assembly of the wheels easy.
Direction to set up well written and illustrated. Battery needed charging but expected that so easy, they send a trickle charger.
I called my trusted solar installer because I was interested in a TESLA PowerWall. He directed me to the Generac PWRcell because they have had great results and better customer service then TESLA. I ordered a six battery system and this generator to run my rural property and well system. I can't use propane because of the pipe size and distances so a gasoline unit was the best answer.
I have the PWRcell system for instant transfer when the grid goes out and it will be silent and automatic. This generator will take over for longer outages and to refill my water tanks.
I will be required to re-fuel it daily and manage it once it takes over. It can charge the PWRcell, run the well and air conditioning and keep us safe and comfortable during emergencies when the air is full of smoke.
If I can make a suggestion to it would be offer a metal weather proof and rodent hardened enclosure.
