The generator was delivered in a damaged box but the unit looked OK so it was installed. The generator only lasted for a month and then started showing a RPM error. I checked everything by the Generac troubleshoot manual and couldn't find anything. I called this company and was told to call Generac they couldn't help me.

I replaced my portable generator with this 14kw unit. I am pleased at the easy startup and how quiet it is while running. I am in the process of load testing but am pleased to see the output voltage so stable while under partial load. Of course it is more expensive than the portable but is built to withstand the elements with no shelter needed.

I’m a power plant engineer and have worked with engines and generators for 50 years. You can’t beat these units! You get a really good product for a very fair price. We have had ours for 6 years. Like we said in my submarine days “It works fine, fails safe and drains to the bilge!” Really great product! By Old Sub Vet.

SOME LOSSES / SOME GAINS

I do miss the gfci receptacle that use to come installed in the right end. I used it to plug in my gfci tester which gave me voltage and frequency at activation while testing the gfci for proper operation. I do like the wifi module which I understand keeps the time updated as well as the programming. The jury is still out on what I refer to as the fireman's shutdown switch. However I was asked 'when there's a house fire and the firemen shut the power off to the house the generator restores the power and places the firemen at risk. How do you prevent that?" so I showed them the switch. I also showed them the gas valve. Inspectors seemed to like it.
Although the wifi module didn't arrive installed in the unit a note said 4-6 weeks after activation, one should arrive. So far it's been 4-6 days. Bummer to have to plan a return trip and take the right end off the unit to install - especially for the contractor. C'est la vie.
They can consume some fuel so the start up choices and the scheduled exercise choices are well received even though these don't really use much anyway because no load is applied. Overall, no problems so far with any pf the 14kw''s Ii've installed. Really strange when you hear "i wish we would lose power so i could see how well it works."

Previous (15 year old) Generac failed in November. EGD shipped this to me super fast, residential delivery. The new unit has wireless monitoring which is really nice, and it is quieter. Was plug-and-play with my existing transfer switch.
