This model has some very attractive features. It's powered by a Kohler 2.2 L Turbocharged liquid-cooled engine. The RDC2 Digital Controller controls both the generator & RXT series transfer switch. It also comes with a premium 5-Year/2000 hour limited warranty.

This is an excellent generator and runs reasonably quiet. Wiring this generator was pretty much a pain and not very convenient. All wires must be brought through a 4" hole in the bottom of the generator which mean that the concrete slab that the generator sits on must have all the wiring conduits in correct location before hand or holes must be cut in the eighth inch steel frame on the bottom for the conduits. In either case, you need to be on your hands and knees to get the wiring into the generator. In my case, the concrete slab was poured a while back not knowing what brand generator I was going to purchase, so the conduits were not in the concrete and I had to cut into the steel plate on the bottom (not fun).

I bought this generator as a replacement for a 17 year old 30kw Kohler that had done its time. This machine is superb. Very quiet and powerful, well designed control panel that gives all info. I will be connecting it to the Kohler On Cue app soon running a computer line to my pad as opposed to buying the WiFi hardware. Had a line power failure 3 days after installation and it worked flawlessly. Cannot hear it running unless you go outside. Very pleased with purchase, albeit at a high price tag…..but that is true of all manufacturers of quality generators. I am a devoted Kohler customer as I believe they are among the best made.

The Koler 38 RCLC is a great product, especially when you combine it with A 200 ASE rxt transfer switch, the only draw back to it is the install can be an issue if not prepared for it.
