I purchased this generator due to the reputation of Kubota. I used it in a repower for a worn Kohler set up. It works well,and is easily the best option for my needs.

These are expensive units, but bullet proof. Very heavy and hard to move around. I’m glad to own this fine generator.

Haven't used the Kubota yet and I'm sure it will be fine. I wanted to drop a review for how easy it was to work with EGD. They are the only company that was able to source this generator for me and do it with ease, it was at its destination in under a week. Awesome service, wouldn't hesitate to order from EGD again.

Last night i completed the whole-house backup installation, hooked up the 50A cable and everything went flawlessly. . It's a simple setup on the wheel trolley but it is more than ample for ourselves and the neighbors. It appears maintenance is going to be simple due to the nice side-opening design. Bleeding air out of the fuel lines is ridiculously easy. I'm pleased with the purchase.

Please review the safety warnings in the owner's manual. Portable generators like this are not designed to be run in enclosed areas, due to exhaust gas poisoning hazard and fire risk.

Home Backup Generator For Off Grid Solar System

I am using this as a whole-home backup through a manual transfer panel. I've added caster wheels to the forklift points and can wheel it out of the garage as needed. I've also fitted both A/C units (one a 5 ton and the other a 3.5 ton) with hard-start kits to minimize time at startup and the ultimate draw of power.
As configured, I can run either A/C unit one at a time and power the rest of the house. In the winter, I can run both central heat units and power the entire house. I keep an eye on power usage through a third-party device called Sense.
This unit runs great, and has no problem supplying 100% of its rated power. I've also found fuel burn to be lower than published, and can get a full day on a single tank. Power quality (from Sense) shows a nominal voltage of 117 volts per leg, and frequency of about 61Hz
These are currently hard to get (mine took 145 days), but if you can find one, you won't be disappointed.

When our generator arrived we were afraid that we'd bought something too big and heavy to be practical. After installing the wheel kit and hooking the unit up we were convinced we'd made a perfect decision. The engine started right up after priming and took our 7kW load without hesitation! I might buy another one!
