With the generator placed outside, thr powermater cord reduces the number of cords fed into the home, which allows additional feed cords to various areas within the home. You can plug or unplug, and move freely to and appliance and maintain a neat situation. This is a must for all running portable generators.

Must-Have Cord For Every 30 Amp Generator!
By William T.

Review Posted 10/21/2017
This cord has split 5-20R outlets, which means two 120 volt outlets per phase of the 240 volt power generation. This allows you to balance loads on both phases, which is very important as well as efficient. Used this cord for a week on a small ginny during Irma. No problems, no heat at the plug or sockets, no measurable loss over the 25 foot run. Very well made cord I expect to last for years. Perfect!

This Powermate cable has exceptional quality compared to similar cables in the big box stores in NJ. The EGD rep answered all of my questions without pushing for a sale. This writer is very happy with his purchase.

Very nice

I purchased this for home backup use. It was very easy to assemble and set up. I filled it with gasoline and it started on the 2nd pull.
I also purchased the 30-Amp cord that splits the power into 4 separate 120V outlets. Everything seems well made - the generator steel frame feels solid, no vibrations when running, and the cord is very thick and has a "heavy duty" feeling to.
I'm not wishing for any extended power outages anytime soon, but I am very happy to be prepared with this generator and power cord.

I ordered same cord for less money thru another company, and waited and waited - but it never came. I cancelled the order - frustrated.
I will need the cord for emergency use in order to keep the generator 25' away from my house. I ordered this cord (more money with shipping & handling). It was delivered in two weeks. HAPPY FACE - sad wallet!!

Last of the Made in USA models
By Richard E.

The GP line is the emergency home-use line of Generac. The 5626 (previously known as the 7000E- now discontinued) was made in the USA and has a full pressure oil lubrication system with a spin-on oil filter. This is an excellent, well built generator.
In recent years the competition has become the made in China generators with names such as PowerMate. These generators are inferior, but they are much less expensive. People often buy an emergency generator strictly on size and price, and as the market is the market, Generac was forced to outsource the manufacture of the GP line to China. Now only their more expensive XG and XP lines are made in the USA. In my view, they are worth it.
If I were to buy another generator I would pay up for one of the Generac models made in the USA such as the XG series. I have seen too many of these Chinese generators fail to start, have something fall off it, burn up, etc. to risk not having it available when a storm hits.
Hurricane Sandy put my Generac GP7000E to use for 9 days, shutting it off only at night and to change the oil and filter each 100 hours.
I also have the PowerMate 30 amp convenience cord and a Century Wire & Cable 25 foot extension. I bought them both on price, not quality and was not disappointed. They are serviceable and good for occasional use. The plastic is stiff, so the cords don't like to lie out straight.
If you want a real cord, buy the Gen-Tran. The rubber on them is superior as is the quality of the receptacles and even the plug. If you plan to use it outdoors to run a construction project or a lawn party, the safety of the Gen-Tran is the way to go

Armed and Ready

I purchased the Generac 5500 in August, along with a Powermate 30 Amp Convience Cord, and a Classic Accessories Large Generator Cover.
All said and done, it was a very good purchase experience with EGD, with accurate, fast shipping of all 3 products! I haven't even fired up the Generac as of yet, I just poured the oil in, put the cover on, and parked it in my basement. I've been very busy with work and the family, but it's nice to know that there's a back-up unit to go to when a power failure does happen.
It looks like a respectable, operator friendly, well built unit. It was easy to install the hardware on the Generac; the Powermate cord is real beefy and is a great fit for this unit; the cover is quite thin and very lightweight and can only be used as a dust cover.
A couple of weekends from now I'll fire up the Generac and let it run, and put it thru the stress test; but right now it's undercover, Armed and Ready!

Great power cord
By Elmer

Works great- it's an excellent heavy duty power cord.
I installed two receptacle plates with spring-loaded covers on opposite sides of my garage wall to allow the cord to pass inside the house, and connected it to a Subaru 7500 W generator.
