Not Well Designed For Installation.
By Jeff H.

Review Posted 12/20/2021
The concept is good. However installing this product is difficult. The receptacle is poorly designed. It is designed to mount flush against the outside wall. However when you mount the base flush, the cover will not fit. I had to use shims to offset the top and fasten down the base to be able to get the cover on. I recommend the receptacle that plugs in from the front.

No Problems With This Item.

I just installed this item. It appears to be good quality and a fair price.
Time will tell, but I see no reason to think it is not a worthy investment. I spray painted the outside to match the house color.
It will used with a small generator (3,500 watts) for extended power outages to keep essential appliances running, like a furnace, refrigerator, TV and a few lights.
I'm satisfied with the product so far.

My customers prefer the clean appearance of Reliance inlet box model # PBN30 (and PBN20) and believe it safer during inclement weather with bottom connection. Product ordered because local electric supply houses do not stock product .

Good Design - But...
By Mark

I liked the design of this box, it keeps the socket protected from the weather. It is a little tricky to take apart. So, I would suggest you show your electrician how to do it. Mine liked the design and like that fact there was room to get 8 gauge wire in it.
When new it matched my siding color perfectly. After a few weeks (in direct sun) the cover has yellowed significantly!

I'm an electrician, so I like a well designed inlet box. This being plastic, I don't have to worry about corrosion or shorts. I like the inlet on the bottom for the customers' safety if its raining, it also makes it more weatherproof. I like that the plate which holds the outlet slides out so you can wire it easily.
Be careful with the two screws that hold the cover on, use a hand screwdriver. You can strip the threads if you use a screw gun and too high a torque setting. Also, you need to leave some room at the top where the top of the back plate is against the house,so the cover can slide back on. I usually situate the top to end up off the house by strategically placing it on the laps of the siding to make this happen. You'll figure it out!
