Quality. Peace Of Mind. Too Short Leads.

Homeowner here, not an electrician. This seems to be the gold standard for transfer switches. I highly recommend this 50a unit over a 30a. If your current generator is 30a buy a 50a cable and a 50a-30a adapter to plug it into the gen until you decide to upgrade to a 50a gen. ••• Because my install required the switch be installed inside my yard but my main panel is around the corner, we needed to use a junction box and laboriously create sets of extension leads to reach the box. That's a lot of pricey electrician time. I would've gladly paid a bit more for an option with longer leads to avoid all that.

The wires should be longer. I had to extend most of the red and black wires to reach the circuit breakers. Also the wires were too tight for the 1inch flex I increased to 1 1/4 making more work and money.

Good But The 50 Amp Rating Is Deceiving

I do not care for the fact that the switch has a 50 Amp rating, but you cannot use it as is, for even a 40 amp circuit.
I understand now, that it means 50 service rating, but it does not say it that way. I had two electricians look at too, and they both saw what I saw and were confused by it.

The 10-circuit manual load transfer switch is an easy to use, easy to operate, easy to install (with some breaker box electrical experience ) and solid product. It is a great option to the $20,000+ power walls and backup built in generators. A much more cost effective options for the everyday average man and woman.

It's Good, But Could Be Better!
By Leroy Y

The unit came packaged very well, but could be more versatile. There are 22 wires to be routed to the main breaker box which is okay except for that 1) the wires could be much longer since it's an outdoor unit. 2) The largest conduit that can be used is only 1 inch. It's very difficult getting all of those wires to go through the conduit ... it should have had the option for 1 1/4" at least. 3) It's shown that it comes with an 18" piece of 1" flexible conduit. But when I measured it, it's in fact only 15" long. I had to buy extra conduit to make it work in my application. For the price of this transfer switch, it could have been more diverse for more applications without buy extra parts!

Great Back-up Plan For The House
By Chris Z

Review Posted 07/23/2022
We live in California (insert your favorite joke here) and the power grid in under high demand and often goes down. I shopped transfer switches for quite a while and settled on this outdoor unit, r510.
It was exactly as advertised and complete with all parts and mounting hardware. I watched the videos and was ready to install. One video claimed about an hour, mine was more like three. I worked with the main box hot.Due to the location of my mount, the red/black wires came up short. A trip to the hardware store and I was back to installing.
It works great and we ready for any power event coming. My main power box was on the complete opposite side of the house as my preferred genie location, Amazon had exactly the long extension we needed.
This is a great switch with perfects options for power balancing.

Simple Clean Install And Use

This was so easy to install and usage of the preinstalled plug receptacle makes everything a breeze. My only criticism - I wish there was adequate wiring to have a larger amperage circuit, but I was able to manage with what's provided.
