It was worth every penny

5 days without power and freezing temperatures because of Hurricane Irene was enough for me. I promised myself I wouldn't depend on luck or the power company again. I did my research, tallied our energy use, and decided to bite the $ bullet for an inverter generator for home emergency use during a blackout.
I ordered it in September so it was on hand for Hurricane Sandy. I could trust it to safely charge cell phones and laptops. I ran the modem/router off of it so we could have the Internet as well. My refrigerator/freezer was powered by it. A manual furnace transfer switch safely provided an outlet connection for my gas furnace’s blower. We had simple modern comforts and our sanity saved.
It started easily and ran smoothly. It only needed a 3’ minimum distance from the house. We did power down at night because of gas scarcity, but then realized its one gallon tank was being filled once a day.
Wow! It doesn't get better than this.

Good Quality - Easy Install

I bought this furnace transfer switch after we had a 5 day power outage last year and did not like not having heat or hot water for that many days.
The switch is high quality, including good workmanship and sturdy construction. Installing the male 120 volt receptacle was quick and straight forward. The rest of the wiring instructions were easy to follow and the completed work looks professional. It's a great option if one owns an adequate wattage generator and lives in an area that may have extended power outages. I would recommend this product to a friend.

A handy device that's well made. It's fine if you have one one circuit that you want to run off your generator. Reliance has many models that can run several circuits, so think and choose.

Just bought a small honda EU2000 generator. I want to install a box outside to feedthru into the house. My generator has two outlets. How do (or should I) I get both inside? I would like to wire this to a furnace transfer switch but would also like to be able to switch out the furnace and switch in lights or fridge.

For the TF151W transfer switch. Connecting to a Honda EU1000i with NEMA 5-15R. Do you have an outdoor cover for this?
