If you are a deep sleeper, you could lose power and sleep right through your power outage. If you have a critical need to know when the power is out, don't be left in the dark! This power outage alarm even has an LED back up light that will last 8 hours, or until you can get the candles or flashlights going.

These are priceless things to have. I have been asleep when the power went out before and never knew it until the next morning when I awoke. Causing a panic to get my generator running post haste as the temp in my freezers and refrigerator was rising. I am a diabetic, and I can't loose the contents of my refrigerator, that could be potentially $1,600.00 in insulin. I have several of these now and i will be putting in a few more, so I can have one on each level and in each sleeping area. I will also be putting one in an outlet next to my transfer switch. So far, best thing since sliced bread, and having had 2 outages since i bought these, potentially over $3,000.00 in insulin saved.

My sister uses a CPAP machine, which depends on power grid. Sometimes the power goes out and the machine, of course, stops. This means she can't breathe and will die if not awakened to start the emergency generator.

This alarm works as advertised. The only problem is the tone that sounds when the power goes off is a high pitched sound that five of the people I showed it to could not hear.

Recently had a brief power outage as I have this plugged into the outlet where my sump pump is. I didn't hear it a floor up, I have a battery backup sump pump so I wasn't too concerned but it's not very loud. Great concept but volume is too low.

Expert Response
I would suggest plugging this into an outlet in an area that would make it easier to hear. It does not have to be plugged into the same outlet as your sump pump. If utility power is lost, all outlets in your home will lose power so it will trigger the alarm.
