Good Assembly Easy To Work With

Panel was great, took a little bit to figure out how to wire, but once i did, not a problem.
It's a little misleading, since the leads where run to the bottom of the panel, i had to adjust the panel and wiring.
That was my only hick up, the 2 gauge was run to the included 100 amp breaker, and feel that if i had to source the bus bars, breakers, etc independently from a big box store, it would have cost more than to just buy a unit like this.
The only design recommendation that i would have is to make the wiring on the generator receiver side a little longer so you can organize them better as you are running wires. Or just have hooks inside the panel to attach and move out of the way as needed for installations.

Saved Thanksgiving Dinner.

I wired the switch up the weekend before Thanksgiving. Then on Thanksgiving midway between cooking dinner for 25 family members the power went out in our area. Rolled out my generator plugged it in and flipped the switch. In 5 minutes we were back to cooking and entertaining. Should of bought the transfer switch years ago.

Works Good For Me

Having had this backup generator transfer panel installed during my home solar installation was well worth the additional $500.00 (for the panel, wire, parts, and electrician labor) towards the overall cost of the work done. I had this panel wired in between the utility main panel and the 100 amp sub-panel in the house. If you need more than 30 amps of generator backup, the higher amperage versions of this panel should work for you.

Transfer Panel
By Orrin

Hooked up transfer panel to existing 100 amp panel. I'm no electrician but a decent DIY guy. Works great no problems. Worst part of job cutting holes through siding to run external panel into internal sub panel in garage but thanks to bondo, looks like a pro did it. If you are not familiar with electrical codes and procedures, hire a licensed contractor. My house runs great on generator only power here in Hawaii.

Second Transfer Switch

We had originally purchased a 10 circuit model, but when we finished the basement with a home office needed more connections. Rather than run cords everywhere we replaced the 10 cir switch with this panel.
With tandem breakers it can handle up to 20 circuits and has the ability to use Arc fault and ground fault breakers. Also it gives you the ability to handle shared neutral circuits and switch out breakers later if needed. It is more difficult to install, but also has a lot more flexibility than the pre-packaged units.
Please note, you might need to manually load shed some circuits depending on generator size and power requirements, but this wasn't much of an issue for us.
