Subaru RG3200IS Reviews & Ratings

Dependable Power

Our last Subaru generator was stolen along with a bunch so stuff from the AUTOCROSS Timing trailer. It had 2900+ run hours on it and only got regular oil changes. The valves were checked at 1000 hours and the spark plug was replaced. This unit sits out in the rain and snow during an event and does not complain, just provides steady clean power for the computers. Our former unit was a plastic piece of crap from Honda that suffered multiple failures with slightly under 800 hours on it. I HIGHLY recommend this unit. The engine has all forged internal parts and starts with a key or a single pull of the rope. If the trailer does not require heat then it runs 12 hours powering the computers and timing equipment. The old Subaru 3200i wasn't even buring oil yet and the new one has not discolored the oil (Mobil 1 10/40). As we are a bunch of racers, oil changes are "frequent". The fact that it is made by Subaru doesn't hurt at all in the racing community. It even "tolerated" 110 octane racing gas, that usually kills air cooled engines. The fuel consumption on regular gas is excellent. If you are looking for utterly dependable power, go with Subaru.

Works well, but louder than you think

Well designed unit and solidly engineered. I have it connected to a transfer switch with the furnace fan, refrigerator, underhood microwave, and some lights. The only real complaint I have is that the sound levels must have been measured when the engine is idling with no load. Once any real current draw happens, its loud.

Expert Response
Sound levels are interpreted differently by different people. The sound pressure measurement on the Subaru is based on loaded conditions & at 23' or 7 meters. For the most part, 58dB(A) is quiet by most peoples standards - again, everyone has different ears and for some, certain frequencies may seem more bothersome that others........

This Robin Subaru RG3200iS is one great unit. It's a little more powerful than the Honda EU3000iS, it registers the same 58db noise level, and it comes with wheels.
