The Reliance Q Series features 1-inch interchangeable circuit breakers. A 30A double-pole circuit breaker and a 20A double-pole circuit breaker, to handle heavier loads on the generator side, are included on each model. The balance of the circuit breakers are single-pole 15A, in the transfer switch these may be connected to 15A or 20A circuits in the load center. Circuits are limited to 15A only on the generator side of the switch. One of the largest benefits we see is that the circuit breakers in the transfer switch are easily replaced. The spaces containing the 30A and 20A double-pole circuits may be replaced with 15 or 20A single-pole breakers if desired. If you have a portable generator that is less than 7500 watts, this transfer switch can be an easy way to avoid running cords all around your house. Plan ahead and have this transfer switch installed to save even more headaches during a power outage!

Excellent Manual Transfer Switch Option
By Jeff K

Purchased 01/16/2025 |
Review Posted 03/11/2025

I like the thoughtful design of this transfer switch. The watt meters on each buss give a good indication of the overall power consumption as well as the balance between both legs of the switch. It has one 30 amp and one 20 amp circuit for 240V applications. The 20 amp 240V circuit can be changed to make 2 circuits at 120V if you prefer to have up to 8 120V circuits. Installation is straightforward and instructions are easy to understand. The 120V circuits come with 15 amp circuit breakers. I switched two of those out using 20 amp compatible Siemens QP circuit breakers.

Quality Panel, Short Wires
By Matt

This is a well made switch/panel. Installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. As other reviews note the cables are short, so if your install location is not right next to the main panel, you may have to extend them. It is intended to be surface mounted. If you recess it, note that the panel is not sized to fit between studs - it is narrower and you will need to add blocking. It works well once installed.

Pro/Tran 2 Transfer Switch

After much research I decided to purchase this model A310A along with a flush mount install kit. My electrician had it installed and working in a few hours. In my opinion it should come with an outlet cover. I purchased one and it fit the hole perfectly to keep out bugs and debris. The flush mount kit completed a quality installation that was very neat and gave it a professional appearance. Overall this is a great product and I highly recommend.

Generator Transfer Switch
By Jon R

Review Posted 12/01/2022
Easy to install. The ground wire that goes to the plug in for the electric cord on the generator is too short ( only a few inch long) which makes it challenge to install the transfer switch mounted plug in.

Great Product

I have worked with Reliance products for years as an electrical technician / supervisor in the chemical industry and have never been dissatisfied with the performance or quality of the equipment. This is a great unit, unfortunately, since purchasing it, I have found out that I need to replace my entire breaker panel. The new panel will have an interlock and an input receptacle in it so I won't be using the transfer switch, guess I'll put it up for sale and hope to find someone who needs a good reliable product for their home.

Best Transfer Switch I've Found So Far
By Donald S.

Review Posted 02/14/2018
Before buying a transfer switch I did a lot of shopping around. I wanted to be able to run my water heater and several other circuits if the power went out. This model has a couple of features I really like, such as you don't have to turn off your master breaker to safely run your generator. It also has enough circuits that I can do my water heater, bedroom plugs and lights, bathroom plugs and lights, garage door opener, and kitchen plugs. If I lose power for an extended time I can comfortably live off my generator.
This is the second one of these I purchased. I installed the first one at my old house. When I bought a new house the first thing I did was call my electrician to install another. He said since installing my old one he has recommended this model to several of his clients because it's the best he has ever installed.
