Just Count to 10
By Dean H.

Purchased 07/25/2010 |
Review Posted 07/08/2014
Installed it in 2009 and love it! Works everytime without fail. Lights go out and we count to 10.
This unit gives me great piece of mind when i'm working away from my family and know that they are protected and my wife doesn't have to deal with our old portable unit which she does not know how to operate. The longest the unit has continuoulsy run was for 3 days and we were sure glad to have it if not just for being able to run the air conditioner. This unit runs my whole house and we never miss a beat when the power is out.

Easy To Use, Fast, Reliable, I'd Buy It Again
Best Investment
By Ed B.

Review Posted 01/21/2011
Best investment I have ever made. We live in the country on a dead end road and when our power goes off it is a minimum of 12 hours to two days before it get's restored.
Installation was simple and the unit performs great, now we will have water since we have a well and don't have to worry about our food spoiling in our refrigerators, not to mention TV!
Ordered the generator and it was delivered two days later.

Generator Installation
By Robert M.
Vernon, Vermont
Purchased 11/05/2010 |
Review Posted 01/03/2011
I am pleased with the generator doing exactly as it is designed to do. I installed the unit myself, and swore that I would never again install another one. The generator itself wasn't the problem. The wire from the utility co. ( meter ) to the service entrance was 2 ga. which is difficult to bend to say the least. The wire to the automatic switch from the generator was 100 amp.wire which bent easier but was still bad enough. After all the connections were made everything worked to perfection which made up for the trouble of the installation.

Big Sigh Of Relief
By Raymond Duhon

I helped my dad install his Generac 13KW generator between Hurricanes Rita and Ike. For Ike, we were without electricity for 4 days, but their generator took care of their essential loads which made their lives easier for a couple their age. They didn't have to look for a hotel room in another state or area of this state. They stayed home.
We shopped around for a good generator for a good price and found the 20KW on this site for cheaper than the 17KW around our area, and the 17KW didn't carry the whole house.
I poured a slab one day and my dad and I installed it in the next 2 days. The instructions were easy to understand, but there was more work than the 13KW and 17KW, but we wanted whole house power, not partial power.
Hopefully we will never have to use it for an emergency, but having peace of mind knowing that it will take care of us when needed. My wife thought it was a crazy idea to spend this much money on one, until my parents practically paid for itself in the 4 days they were out of electricity and we had to run a small gasoline generator to run our freezers and refrigerators, but no air conditioner.
It was easy to program, it runs weekly like it is supposed to. Every time we hear it test run, we feel at ease knowing we don't have to worry about storing 100 gal. of gasoline in the shed outside.

Just installed today, the electrician had no problems.Everything but the hotwater heater and range are able to get up and running.
After years of listening to my neighbors generators when power go out, no more sinking feeling of "ok it'll just be for a little while". That little while took 2 weeks a few years.
Nice little product. I am ready!

Long Vermont Winters

Purchased this unit for complete house power when outage occurs. Unit arrived within 4 days of purchase. everything went smoothly in the complete transaction.
Finished installation this afternoon and everything went flawlessly the first time around. Unit seems to handle the whole house with ease. We are on the end of the power line and are one of the last homes to get power restored an outage.
I'm very happy with the ease of installation and would not hesitate to do another in the future.

Peace of mind

I purchased the Guardian 20 KW air cooled unit to take over when the utilities are down. Living outside of the city can be challenging in the winter when the power goes out - now I don't have to worry any more !
This unit powers us back up in less than a minute and will cover all of our needs. I bet the neighbors will be jealous the next time the power goes out !
The install took approx 5 days- I poured a concrete platform for the generator and propane tank. The electrician did his thing and the gas man hooked up the fuel line.
My own little power plant.... Now you will understand why I titled this "Peace Of Mind"- No more worries !!!!!

Never a Flooded Basement Again!
By Thomas Keenan
Mansfield, Massachusetts
Purchased 06/23/2010 |
Review Posted 07/15/2010

March of 2010 presented eastern Massachusets with a 200 year rain storm, the largest recorded rain fall ever. We arrived home, after a week's vacation in Ireland, to find that our basement had been flooded. In the next 30 days we were able to install french drains with two heave duty pumps. I discovered that the system could be backed up by battery, but that the pumps would only run for 9 hrs. on their battery back up system which was costly. This storm ran for two days. So I decided that for just a little extra money, I would not use the battery back up for the pumps but rather would use a Whole House Generator.
I now have piece of mind that I will never have another flooded basment again! Additionally, when I go to sell the house, having the ability to tell the potential buyers that I have upgraded the house with a Whole House Generator and that the french drain pumps will work whether the electricity goes out or not is a real plus.
No more sleepless nights worrying about the rising water table. I am covered! Additionally, I have a Mr. Slim airconditioning system that will keep the house cold in the summer and warm in the winter even when the electric company's lines go down.
I can't wait to hear my neighbors when they lose their power and look across the street and see my house all lit up. Priceless!

Get 'Em Before They're Gone
By Jim Baugher, Product Expert
Bolingbrook, Illinois
Review Posted 05/26/2010
Some people might mistake the headline above as a cheap marketing tactic.
It's actually the bottom line, honest truth.
Generac Power Systems manufactured this 20kW home standby generator system in early 2010
So, why is it called "Centurion by Generac Power Systems" instead of "Generac Guardian"?
Simple. The Guardian Series is primarily manufactured for dealers like us. The Centurion brand, however, is made for a major retailer. We opted to purchase the Centurion brand and launch a super sale on a hot 20kW air-cooled item at hundreds of dollars less than traditional retail pricing. Aside from the marketing and model numbers, the machines are eerily similar. Go ahead and compare for yourself.
At these prices, we don't expect the inventory to last long. When they're gone, the sale is gone too.
Unfortunately, reinforcements are not on the way.
