Gen-Tran 63652 Reviews & Ratings
Overall, A Very Positive Experience - Exceptional Product

I'll try not to be too repetitive : Lots of reviews here. I rarely write these... When I do... they are long winded...:-)

Shopped for a month before purchasing, I made certain there was a dealer nearby for warranty BEFORE ORDERING. Lightning fast order processing and shipping. Unit arrived two days later. Excellent packaging of the unit, best I've ever seen in a product like this... (I recall the box my old Winco came in years ago, how torn up it was upon delivery. ) The delivery went OK, Carrier did have lift gate BUT came in a semi that could not get near my home and turn around. Thankful we got it into my pick-up after meeting him 1/4 mile away... Creative thinking and techniques got the beast out of my pick up bed and into my driveway. Yes, unit is VERY heavy. ( Think sliding, long 2x8's and leverage and letting air out of back tires . )

General impressions so far. 32 hours straight generator ran continuous, before first oil/filter change - powered my entire house, which runs exclusively on electric: I used a 10 foot gen tran 50AMP twist lock power cord into a gentran mini connection box, which was then wired into a panel 30ft away.
I ran the following at random times as needed: All lighting, mostly CFL, Well pump 240V 6.1Amp/1.6SF, Refrigerator-22cu ft, a 240V electric dryer, Two heat pumps, 3 Ton downstairs and 2 ton upstairs, HE washer, Dishwasher. Computer UPS. I did not bother to test the 15KW emergency heat strips in the heat pump unit. All lighting in the garage, a window A/C unit above the garage, garage door opener. All ceiling fans.

During the 32 hours, With the exception of some periodic start-up surges of my heat pumps in A/C mode, noted by a very brief dimming of my few incandescent lights and some continuous and very obvious ceiling fan hum My family and I could not notice any difference in "electrical performance". Occasionally my UPS would kick in for a second or two for my computers. Compared to my old Winco 8K watt, the power on this unit was CLEAN IMHO. I had one family computer hooked straight into it via only a surge and spike protector, no issues there, TV, VCR, DVD, radio, all functioned OK. All fluorescent lights lit no problem.

Random thoughts:
Unit IS heavy - due caution when moving,
Very solidly built in my opinion.
Unit is LOUD, I have mine 100ft from my house behind my garage
It will need some type of open shelter for inclement weather running and sound abatement.
Starts with no issues, very simple operation. Just be sure to read the owners manual beforehand...
First oil change was a breeze with the oil drain hose and petcock plug as an OEM feature, An A+ for this.
What else impressed: Oil filter, Oil Cooler, Air cooling design and function was impressive.
Surge response was immediate with the unit. Filler neck no spill collar - BRILLIANT
WIDE filler neck for gas fueling.
Speaking of fueling: under load it eats gas, about 1.25 gallons per hour, the 16 gallon tank was the right idea....
Easy access to dipstick, oil filler, air filter, grounding lug.
The included oil and filter was much appreciated as well as the spark plugs, air filter, plug wrench, funnel, towel.... a REALLY nice touch!
