Sure, when it comes to protecting your family, you're willing to pay a premium, but there's no reason you can't get a good deal. The Generac 6241 earned our "best" spot because of its reasonable price and excellent transfer switch.
The 200-amp service-entrance automatic transfer switch features load shedding, which allows you to manage two centrals AC's if the generator has enough power. When it doesn't, it keeps the essentials going and temporarily locks out the luxuries.
If you have smaller 100-amp service, or more powerful 400-amp service, you'll want to look for, respectively, either a smaller air-cooled standby generator, or a larger air-cooled or liquid-cooled standby generator.

Now 7 wires for control circuits, you have to run neutral to control contacts for battery charging circuit, need to update install sheets.

This was a big investment for us. I also spent 24 hours installing gas and electric lines. The programing took a minute but was not difficult. The operation is simple too. Just five days after my installation, during the heat of August, our power went out for only an hour and a half, but we still had power, and AC. Everything worked as planned. I'm very happy with this Generac 14Kw generator. I was going to save some money and make everything a manual set up during an outage, but figured my wife would not know how to do it if I was gone. Now we both have a sense of security during an outage.

The Best Bang For Your Buck!!

This is an update. My Generator turns out to be a great investment! I work offshore oncall 24/7 as an electrician and im always gone. My wife loves the automatic switch because while ive been gone at work she loss power and all was well. Very happy Customers thank you Generac!!
