Good / Solid Little Product

This is the lower capacity Generac 70185 Oil Filter which is made in Taiwan. ( There is a Generac 070185E Oil Filter which is made in India & is 30% larger. )
I haven't had a single problem with the lower capacity oil filter and most have served a 2-year service cycle. Providing the same performance as its larger counterpart. The price of the 3-pack is very inviting and buyer friendly as its "tax free" outside Illinois.
There's not always the need to change the air filter and the spark plug AND I prefer to use an oil of MY choice - so the filter only fills that requirement perfectly.
Three filters are not too many for me. A 2-year service cycle would mean storing them, where you could still find them, up to six years later. They can do a 2-year service cycle when the generator isn't required to do much more than the "exercise cycle". If your generator is pressed into service often OR for long periods of time, then you may be changing your oil filter sooner and more often.
It's a Good / Solid / Compact Oil Filter that has served me well enough to recommend. (By now, they may have even changed the product's size to the 30% larger size - I don't know yet BUT I will by the delivery date.)

My New Generator

I got the delivery of my Generator approximately 1 week prior to Hurricane Irene and it's devastation hitting my area. Well low and behold I managed to get the plumber to run the gas line and my husband to hook up the Generator to the house during that week.
I can't begin to tell you how awesome it was to have the power go off and then listen for my Generator to start up and supply my house with the electric it needed. My husband proudly stated "I told you so" as he was the one pushing for this purchase in the first place.
I can only say this was a great piece of equipment to add to my home as now I no longer fear or worry about being without electric any longer. Thank You

Good Investment

I purchased my 16K generator in January 2004. After installation, the first time I shut the electric off and ran it , it ran 20 minutes and stopped and wouldn't restart. I called a service tech and it was a bad piston. Within 2 weeks I was sent a new generator and it was installed under warranty and I've had no trouble since. In the 4 12 years I've had it, it has come on when my electric went off and has run a total of about 10 hours in that time frame. It runs once a week automatically. I have piece of mind all year. I will purchase another one if I ever build a new house.

No more portable
By David Downey

I purchased this generator because I live out in a very rural area of West Virginia. My power goes out about every other month for a few hours and sometimes days.
I purchased the generator last fall. I installed the generator with my father in a day. It was very simple to install. The directions were very clear and accurate.
Before I purchased this unit I used a 4500 watt portable. This got me through but it was not easy. When the power would go out I would have to go to the basement, drag out the portable, and hook it up. This would get a little old at 2:00 in the morning.
Now all I have to do is count to 30 and everything comes back on. The unit I purchased is a 14kw. This is not big enough to run my whole house but it does run all the necessary things.
I can run my master bedroom and bathroom, microwave, frig, pelletstove, electric oven, electric hotwater heater, livingroom and TV, propane furnace, and a few more lights.
When I first looked at buying a generator I got a little afraid of the prices, but now that I have the unit working it was worth every penny.
I have programed the unit to run every Sunday morning while I am home to make sure everything is working correctly.
I also was concerned about how much propane the unit would use, but as far as I can tell it is very easy on the propane.
The last thing I would like to mention about the purchase is how good the help at Electric Generators Direct is. I submitted a question about my unit and in less than 24hrs I had a response that was exactly what I needed.
I would recommend a Generac generator to anyone who is sick of the power going out.

A great website

After the hurricanes 2004 in FL.(days and weeks without power) I bought a 15KW PTO drive generator to use with my tractor.
But, after a few years I realized the complicated procedure to obtain power by this method was not "WIFE friendly", so I purchased a 17 KW Generac Guardian generator 2 years ago from another company before I discovered Electric Generators Direct.
I have since purchased everything for my generator from them. From the 200 amp transfer switch to service kits and oil filters. I am not sure why the filter that comes with the service kit is a higher capacity filter than the 3 pack but I guess if you change the oil as required it doesn't matter.
The transfer switch was the best thing we did besides the generator. If you are not experienced do not attempt to install this. A licensed/certified electrician is required.
Prompt delivery, product quality and ease in ordering keeps me returning to this company for my generator needs. I'm sure they're just as good by phone but I have used the online service, and it's great!!!!!

Compact, powerful, & quick delivery

I just received my Generac. It was delivered on time and in one piece. The delivery man rolled it into my garage since I was not there and my wife had to accept delivery.
The only assembly required was to attached the 2 front wheels and the two fold down handles which was a snap.
After assembly I added 1 qt of oil, 5 gallons of gas and pulled twice on the rope starter and she fired right up.
Since I might be away when the power goes out I had my wife try to start the Generac and she too got it going after only 2 pulls.
I like the compactness of the unit, the amount of power generated for the price, and how quickly it was delivered.

Awesome generator

My Dad is 91 years old. He bought one of these generators and had the Power Company wire for it. I keep up the maintenance on it.
It's an awesome generator, and works great.
If you plan for the probability of being out of power for an extended period, you need to plan for fuel. This unit has a 16 gallon fuel tank.
My only complaint is that this generator does not have an alternator to charge its own starting battery. I found this out when the battery went dead.
A plug-in trickle charger has solved this problem. The Generac call center response was excellent.
