If you're building a home or updating your current electrical system, there's no need to buy a main load center and automatic transfer switch separately.
What's great about the Gen-Tran Ovation Series Indoor Automatic Transfer Switch is that it's a hybrid (no, not the kind you see driving down the street). It combines a typical load center (circuit breaker box) and an automatic transfer switch into a single box.
In addition to buying less equipment, its less effort for your electrician to install, saving you additional money. You'll be able to protect up to 38 breakers (not included) and can handle GFCI and Arch Fault type breakers to meet local codes.
The Gen-Tran Ovation Series Automatic Transfer Switch & Load Center is ready even if you're not. Install it during construction and purchase your generator later if you budget is tight.

Had it professionally installed with a 50 amp connector box for hooking up my Generator when power goes out. Switch will cut off commercial power and connect generator power to house. Very pleased with setup.

Manual Tranfer Switch
By Steve G.

Purchased 01/12/2021 |
Review Posted 02/02/2021
The product performs as expected. It's neat unique latch does a great job at securing the panel but will be nearly impossible for people like my wife to open in case of emergency. It's tricky and if you don't know how to open it your stuck. You need to push cover-up then release latch underneath then slightly open while slowly dropping cover. Extremely difficult. It even take me a couple of tries to remember how to do it and I installed it. I recall when I first received it was like a rubrics cube.

Transfer Switch

Review Posted 12/02/2019
My electrician who installed said the products including the plug outlet seem to be of good quality, we tested the unit and works excellent, too bad I was could not return the original one I had purchased and never opened, not happy with customer relations with Electric Generator Direct, was told I had it over the 30 day return policy even though I was buying the correct unit. Overall I would recommend the product but not the firm, sorry.

Reliance Transfer Panel
By Tim B.
Bishop, California
Purchased 10/09/2019 |
Review Posted 11/01/2019
I purchased this unit to use with my generator. Actually bought two because I have two power meters. 1 on the house and 1 on the well. Unit has lots of knockouts and is well made. My only con is the 100 Amp breaker contacts on the house side. Per code I had to hook up #3 copper wire. This wire is stiff and has a tendency to pull the breaker out of it's contacts. Takes a fair bit of manipulating of the wire to take the pressure off the breaker. Once the cover plate is in place this helps hold it in. No problem with smaller gauge wires. Would like to see heavier contacts when 100 amp breaker is required.

No Installation Instructions Other Than Poor Wire Diagram
By Darren C.
Sperry, Oklahoma
Purchased 01/25/2019 |
Review Posted 02/20/2019

Seems to be of great quality. Biggest complaint I have is installation instructions are non-existent. Only instructions refer you to a very generic wiring diagram on back of panel cover, which only shows the workings of the panel. No explanation of actual wiring hookups for a whole house hookup?

Expert Response
We always suggest if you're uncomfortable installing based on the provided instructions, It would be best to hire an electrician to install the panel.

Perfect Solution
By William P.

This transfer panel is a perfect solution for my father-in-law. It's difficult for him to go down the stairs to the basement to operate the originally installed lockout device on his circuit breaker panel. Installed this on the outside of his house by the meter so when he looses power, all he does is start the generator and flip the switch within this transfer panel. Only negative issue I have is the door to the transfer panel is a bit difficult to open and closed. I remedied this by installing a more user friendly locking device.

Hi Mike. I bought a 17.5 kw Generac and want to use it to power the whole house. Is there a way to get more than 50 amps to a transfer switch.? What transfer switch would you choose?

I have a Honda EB5000X generator and I would like to know what transfer switch you would recommend I use. I know I can not run my whole home but I would like to be able to turn some things on and off as needed.
